Cosmopolitanism at its best debuted Wednesday night at the Leica Gallery in Noho, where Italy met Japan met New York’s Chinatown. Photos from Renato D’Agostin’s new book Tokyo Untitled, where geometrical spaceĀ illustrates the contrast between people and their environment in one of the world’s largest cities.
Alongside this stands Alessandro Zuek Simonetti’s “The Last Neighborhood Standing,” a chronicle of the changing faces of Chinatown — in one, a woman’s face is so open and animated, it’s as if she’s feeling every emotion at once, rather like the place itself.
Curiously, both exhibitions are sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York, and the drinks? Why, Hofbrau Munchen, of course. The show runs through January 9, 2010.
