Preface: I made sure to arrive early at the tents and beat the Justin Timberlake crowds. By doing this I found myself at the Tenjune Bar downing Kettle One on an empty stomach. Needless to say, I was particularly sassy leading up to and throughout the William Rast show.
The first issue here was with security. The geniuses prematurely placed standing room guests in the standing room line for Terexov. When the wrong line started moving and we almost ended up in the wrong room, shit hit the fan. While Brittany and I remained calm (Editor’s Note: I DID NOT remain calm!!!) , yet concerned, one crazy mofo made sure we were getting into the tent. I’m not going to complain here because instead of waiting until the end to get in, we were ushered in essentially before everyone else.
The second issue at hand was that the show had to start on time. Marc Jacobs was scheduled across town an hour later and everyone knew he was still on that “start on time” kick. Add into the mix Old Woman Wintour arriving early and sitting in her seat early to create a recipe for failure.
There was such a rush to get seated, it was nearly impossible to see which celebs were in the front row. Three people we could spot were Emile Hirsch, Aubrey O’Day (+1 pooch), Anthony Anderson and Jessica Biel (Duh!). Also noted was Patrick McMullan and his telescopic lens in the 2nd row. With all hell breaking loose I snagged a seat in the front row…for a few minutes, at least.
I hated the show. The music wasn’t doing anything for me and neither were the JCPenny cowboy costumes. I was actually hoping for a fall or something else to spice up the runway. Flannel and rhinestoned denim didn’t really turn me on and neither did the models. I guess all the money spent on securing the Tent took away from securing hot models. I was unimpressed.
I wouldn’t call this a complete let down because I did enjoy myself. At least JT came out and waved at the end. But it was definitely the show I was looking forward to the most this week and it just didn’t deliver. Lesson learned.
