element+k Katlin Sweeney and Element K at The Bitter EndI’m really excited to brag about my new favorite band. Well, it’s a singer I always loved who teamed up with, and started a new band. They’re called Element K and I’m so happy they made it up to NYC last night.

They played The Bitter End last night, which surprisingly wasn’t as overrun by NYU wannabe hipsters as I expected it to be. Unfortunately it was crowded with your typical, mid-life-crisis-aged, reformed hippies listening to a bad version of Weird Al. We braved the torture for half an hour longer than expected and finally it was time for Kaitlin Sweeney and Element K to come on.

Do you ever listen to a band and think, “Did they write this song about me?” Maybe it was the fact I was a few drinks deep, but I felt every song was the story of my life and was secretly getting emotional on the inside. Kelly Clarkson’s new album (which leaked and you totally need to download in case you haven’t) makes me feel the same way. You should definitely check Kaitlin’s MySpace and and listen to “Breathe.” Element K is also an awesome cover band so check out their website as well.

Girls – the band is hot and you can’t help but fall in love with the other singer/keyboardist and his awesome style. Guys – Kaitlin is a smokin’ former sorority girl. She sings, dances, and has some pretty slammin’ legs to boot. There’s something here for everyone, so next time you see they’re in town, make sure to go and check them out.

Also, for all you Jersey/Delaware shore summer sharers: Expect to see them doing that circuit all summer long. Kaitlin is originally from Long Island so hopefully she’ll make it to some of the summer venues up here, too. The only thing more fun than listening to their original stuff is jamming out with them to the best feel-good party music.
