I met a few friends last weeks for drinks at the barbecue restaurant/bar, Brother Jimmy’s (Murray Hill). I’m not going to lie, Thursday nights there are pretty intense and it made me feel like I was back in college. The younger crowd definitely sets the “college feel” along with the variety of fans cheering on their teams on the many large television screens they have around the place.
As the night goes on there, the place gets a bit rowdier and people obviously begin to loosen up and start “dancing,” if that’s what they think they’re doing. A big plus about the place is the array of cute girls wondering around with their friends.
The only problem is the number of guys by far outweigh the number of girls unconditionally killing the ratio. Some of these dudes have no shame either, especially when the liquor begins to kick in, to try and pick up any girl even if they make a complete fool of themselves. I guess the courage you get from being in college where you attempt to take advantage of drunk freshmen girls rubs off into the after-college life. Kind of disgusting to talk about yet true.
The drinks at Bro J’s, as some may like to call it, are pretty good, but pretty expensive. We are in a recession people, but in NYC, it seems to appear that no one lives like we’re in and express that by partying even harder. So, Thursday Nights at Brother Jimmy’s are considerably an experience that a person should check out for themselves.
