Last Week I went down to Wall Street to celebrate the digital release of FREE Magazine No. 12 and the debut of the web series ‘A FREE Life’ at the Dwell 95 building.Clearly there was no “word on the street” about this party. I’d say 95% of the people who attended the event at the Dwell 95 Penthouse Lounge were somehow affiliated with the building. They lived there, worked there, or were brokers for the building who were coming to catch up with their clients/make new deals.
There was an open bar (things were looking up?) but the line reached halfway through the space- at all times. Additionally, the open bar line never seemed to be moving. Although I was curious about the stand still status of the line, I decided to wait patiently and talk the people around me. Finally, when I reached the front, I realized the reason for the hold up- the bartender worked for the building and was taking shots/talking with all his customers!
Now this wouldn’t have been so irritating if all the guests weren’t residents of the building! And when I tried to give the bartender my drink order, he was so intoxicated I just decided to make my own drink (well drinks… there was no way I was waiting in that line again!) Nevertheless, I did end up having a good time- the drinks were strong (thanks to myself, Don Julio and Ketel One) and I did meet some fascinating people.
