LAVO New York Officially Opens
I was very excited to be personally invited to the opening of LAVO by Noah Tepperberg and I am so happy I came out of my club rehab to attend.
The restaurant is located on the main level and the food was delicious. The tuna tartare, the kobe beef meatball sliders, the shrimp cocktail and all the little pizzas they were passing around were perfect to catch some of the liquor from the open bar.
Formerly Au Bar, the essence of LAVO can be summed up in one word: VEGAS. The club is downstairs and boasts two bars, about a dozen tables on the main level, about a dozen more in the VIP area and at least two secret rooms for debauchery. There is a disco diamond, a few disco chandeliers (nothing like that hot mess Mr. West) and wait for it, a dance floor. Not just space between tables, but an actual dance floor. And to my surprise people were dancing. From models to 50-year-old guys in suits with their wives.
DJ Ross One, DJ Vice, DJ Chuckie and DJ Solange Knowles were on the decks and the celebs in attendance included Ciara (who performed), Samantha Ronson, Lenny Kravitz, Jay Sean, Sharon Carpenter, Nicky Hilton, Kelly Killoren-Bensimonb, Lance Bass, Tinsley Mortimer, Stephanie Pratt, Swizz Beats, Jonathan Cheban, Michelle Rodriguez, Omarion, Victoria Silverset, Melody Thorton and many others that were coming in as I was heading out.
Looking at the crowd, the decor and the location LAVO will definitely have a Sin City feel. Lots of older men with younger women, lots of beautiful women who can buy their own bottles and lots of people from the South American scene that Jayma Cardoso will bring with her.
Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss have achieved the trifecta. Marquee for the bridge and tunnel crowd and New Yorkers willing to pay a cover, Avenue for the “it” kids and celebrities and LAVO for a more mature crowd with actual dollars to spend. Maybe someone will buy the most expensive bottle in the house, a $50,000 Methuselah (6 Liter) bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal.
I told you the place screamed Vegas. Congratulations Strategic Group, you have another hit on your hands.
