The Eldridge… If You’re On A Budget, Stay Home
[ I ordered a glass of champagne thinking I'd get the standard Veuve Clicquot . Aurelia brought me Dom Perignon. They must teach these girls how to up-sell on the sly.]
I remember when people thought the $17 cocktails at The Gansevoort were outrageous. Ha! The Eldridge has a cocktail that will cost you $32 a glass.
I had the pleasure of attending the Catherine Fulmer after-party last night, courtesy of my friend Kristian Laliberte (Full article and photos will be up tomorrow. I’ve got to get them from the folks over at PMc).
It was my first time at The Eldridge and it is small. Very small. Smaller than Antik. But it sure is pretty. Sure it’s been said that the wine list is exclusive, but have you SEEN the cocktail list? Of course you haven’t.
The ChiChi Cheshire Cat purred its way in and got the list for you. And if you care you can check it out below.
My waitress disappeared for about 20 minutes after I ordered and then I was charged 20% for gratuity. I guess how these girls are going to make their money because with service like that… The outfits are cute though. They’ve got on little tuxedo dresses/shorts looking things. Kind of like the ones that were at H&M earlier this season.
Cole Bernard (my friend from Porky’s NYC waaay back when) was on the decks because apparently the DJ didn’t show up. Some say he’s an owner/investor, some say he gets alcohol for Matt Levine, I say he’s the fill-in DJ. Whatever. The music was good and I had a good time. But WHY they have a flute player is beyond me.
It’s a small place so of course it’s exclusive. But all of these places are starting to look the same to me. Kind of like all of the new socialites popping up on the scene. We’ll just have to wait and see.
