Page Six has reported that Joe Sitt, founder of Ashley Stewart, has partnered up with Richie Akiva to open a West side outpost of Butter. The space is set to open in December and will be the third Butter in the United States.
It will be located at 446 W. 14th St and will be three floors totalling 13,000 square feet. I’m hearing restaurant and lounge (naturally) but no word yet if the 5,000 square foot roof deck will be the lounge, or in addition to the lounge.
I called Steve Lewis to find out if he was designing this space as he designed the original Butter, and he was surprised the item was even in The Post. He also would not deny that he and his partner Marc Dizon were designing it. Steve never lies to me, but he seldom tells the whole truth.
Since the item does not list Scott Sartiano, and it should, it can only be assumed that someone saw Richie Akiva, in the space and leaked the story.
Scott and Richie are set to open their new space, also on 14th Street, before Summer and seven months later open Butter on the west side. All of this right on the heels of Butter North Carolina which opened in February. And lets not forget they guys also own 1Oak.
They are definitely on a quest to dominate Manhattan. Luckily for them, they won’t have to come up with a name for this one. Butter West, sounds like it will be the winner.
