BRAZILFOUNDATION VII ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER
BrazilFoundation, a U.S.-based non-profit dedicated to supporting social projects in Brazil will host its VII Annual Benefit Dinner on Tuesday September 29th, 2009 at 7PM, at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan. This event is the Foundation’s flagship fundraising effort to support social entrepreneurs in Brazil in the fields of education, health, human rights, citizenship and culture. The Annual Benefit Dinner brings together over 500 professionals from the financial, commercial, diplomatic, artistic and academic communities of New York City to celebrate and support efforts for social development in Brazil.
Each year as part of the Benefit tradition, a few distinguished individuals are paid tribute for their philanthropic initiatives. This year BrazilFoundation is proud to honor Alberto Weisser, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bunge Limited; Cosette Alves, President of the Inter-American Culture and Development Foundation (ICDF); Oskar Metsavaht, Creative Director of Osklen fashions and founder of the NGO Institute E; and Otaviano Canuto, Vice president of the World Bank and Head of the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management (PREM) Network.
The theme for this year’s event will be “Celebrando o Rio de Janeiro!” highlighting the creativity and the entrepreneurship of its residents, the Cariocas in a Carnaval style mask ball. The evening will have many attractions including Carioca Singer, Silvia Machete, and the Harlem Samba group.
Confirmed guests include Antonio Aguiar Patriota, Brazilian Ambassador to the United States; Ambassador Maria Luiza Viotti, Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations; Ambassador Osmar Chohfi, Consul General of Brazil in New York and Brazilian top model Adriana Lima.
The VII Annual Benefit Dinner sponsors include Atlas Advisors; Bloomberg; Bunge Limited; City of Rio de Janeiro; Deutsche Bank; Pfizer; Safra Bank; TAM Linhas Aéreas; Tinker Foundation, VALE, and Violy & Company. And the list continues to grow.
Individual tickets cost $US 500 and $US 1.000 and tables start at $US 12,500. All donations are tax deductible by U.S. law.
In eight years, BrazilFoundation has directed more than 11 million dollars to projects in Brazil.
