There are a few designers that play it safe each season. Custo Dalmau is not one of them. For Custo Barcelona’s Fall/Winter 2010 season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, he is giving us “Hairy Metal.” Cold metal  will come face-to face-with the warmth of fur, and both will unfold into a new colour palette. Now all you PETA supporters, don’t get your La Perlas in a bunch. This fur is faux. Here is sneak peak from another number that will come down the runway.

Oh fashion gods, how cruel you are. Sending New York a blizzard during the most important 8 days of winter. You may think you’re funny, but we will still put on our LBDs and high heels and strut into the tents.

First order of business, credential pick up is still happening today from 12pm-6pm. The Press Office is located on the North West side of Bryant Park, near 42nd St. and 6th Ave.

Only two days left until Tia Cibani’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection for Ports 1961 comes to life on the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. We have a sneak peek at the collection which Cibani says is “inspired by the relationship between discovery and invention.” Enjoy.

Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2010 is here. Although the festivities in the Bryant Park Tents do not begin until Thursday, there are a bunch of designers getting in on the action early. Did you know: The first New York Fashion Week, then called Press Week, was the world’s first organized fashion week. Held in 1943, the event was designed to attract attention away from French fashion during World War II, when fashion industry insiders were unable to travel to Paris to see French fashion shows.

All Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Coverage

We’re in full Mercedes-Benz F/W 2010 Fashion Week mode. This means emails, shopping, assignments, shopping party RSVPs, shopping and I get a nice email from Hakan Baykam informing me that the countdown is on until Fashionable Istanbul.

Ok two things. One: Can I get through NYFW first? Please? And two: Fashionable Istanbul is in JUNE. Yes I understand the countdown is on. The countdown is also on for New Year’s Eve 2011 but I am not shopping for a party dress yet.

With under 4 weeks to go before the last Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Bryant Park, the list of designers have been announced!
