Last night Superdry USA held the launch party for its South Street Seaport location. This marks the company’s second store in New York and its seventh in the United States.
Located on Water Street, the apparel carried at Superdry fuses vintage Americana fabrics with pseudo-Japanese text. The company designs clothing for men and women and quickly rose in popularity after David Beckham was seen wearing their items.
While there were no signs of David or Victoria, Whitney Port (The City) and Jessica Szhor (Gossip Girl) stopped by and were spotted in Superdry’s fall sweaters and boots. Guests enjoyed a store-wide 30% discount while drinking specialty cocktails provided by SVEDKA and listening to a soundtrack curated by DJ Chrissie Miller.

Kelly Cutrone‘s Peoples Revolution assembled an unexpectedly long presentation of three notable up-and-coming designers.
First up was Nicholas K who offered lots of wearable separates that were sporty and young with just a bit of edge. Slouchy shorts and great rain parkas trimmed in bright pinks and blues are what you can expect for Spring.
Star of The City, Whitney Port‘s Collection, Whitney Eve was surprisingly good. She completely embraced the female form and it was so refreshing to see an actual waistline on the runway. The collection brought a bit of the West Coast easiness to the tough streets of New York with pretty and versatile dresses.
Mara Hoffman embraced youth culture and presented a fun collection consisting of neutrals with burst of bright pinks and purples. There was lots of ruffles and lace and shine but nothing too excessively girly. One of the highlights for me was a boyfriend style blazer with a jewel encrusted lapel paired over sexy lace leggings. In the words of Rachel Zoe, “I DIED”!

According to Guest of a Guest, Olivia Palmero and crew were filming an episode of The City at Ella last night. In case you weren’t aware, The City is The Hills but in the city, duh. It’s that new show starring Whitney Port (since she’ll be working at People’s Revolution) and Olivia Palmero.
Why are they filming at MY favorite discovery and I wasn’t even invited? Darin I am not feeling the love!
Note: Guest of a Guest also has great photos of the place if you haven’t been there yet.

Note: My five least favorites are the first five listed. Sorry BL and PB. Those characters you play, I just can’t.

But the number of High School Musical people made me red all over and I’m going to hurl. I am serious. The only thing I hate more than Zac Efron or Vanessa Hudgens is Zac Efron AND Vanessa Hudgens. And I’m VERY pissed that I even know who these people are.

But before I name any more attendees, let’s talk about the good stuff: THE SWAG!!! Blackberry sponsored the swag suite for the US Weekly’s 2008 Hot Hollywood Issue Celebration and there was some pretty good stuff. People nabbed gifts from Little Black Dress Wines, TONS of products from Neutrogena (probably thanks to Vanessa) and of course a Blackberry Pearl from AT&T. How many of these celebrities do you think NEEDED Blackberries? Really?
