I just got off the phone with Ashleigh Jennifer Parker and she was very upset and I don’t blame her. The True Life episode captured her bitchiness and completely distorted the rest her personality.
I have known Ashleigh for more than five years and I would not have been friends with her for all these years if she was that person who was portrayed on TV.
Let me state for the record she is very hard working, she is sensitive and she is a great person. She is not racist, she is not an evil human being and she is not deserving of the nasty phone calls and emails she is receiving. There is no reason for people to be threatening her life, saying they hope she’d die, or that she should have never been born. Any employer or social club that doesn’t want Ashleigh on her team is an idiot. She is brilliant at publicity and can spin anything.
I hope my ass doesn’t get sued for this but our producers ruined her life. What they’re not understanding is that her reputation is everything in this business and they have given her an obstacle that is impossible to get over.
Unlike High Society and The Hills we were not paid to have our lives distorted. Unlike Jersey Shore we’re not getting paid $10,000 for appearances. I got lucky, I have something that can absorb all of the attention, good and bad. Ashleigh has to deal with all of this on her own.
I cannot stress how HEAVILY edited the show is and how taken out of context the quotes and actions are. When we are sitting on the grass fighting, 95% of it is cut out because we are actually fighting about being on the show and saying how we want to quit. But they made it look like something COMPLETELY different.
I really wish people could see what ACTUALLY happened and how much fun we actually had and the amazing parties we actually went to. I’m not one to toot my own horn but we are not “trying to make it.” In the Velvet Rope Circle in Manhattan, we know all the right people, we go to all the right parties and we have a great time. I run three nightlife blogs and my websites combined receive over 10 million hits per month. I am not “trying” to do anything. I am doing it. Ashleigh can get into any party and has worked for some of the best companies in the country. She is also not “trying” to do anything. She is doing it.
This True Life was anything but that, and I just wanted everyone to know that. Ashleigh busted her ass last summer hooking it up and upgrading my summer. I’m really no frills and Ashleigh made that one of the most luxurious summers I have ever had.
As much as I love our producers, what you guys did was f*cked up. I know you didn’t actually like Ashleigh, but to portray her this way is unbelievable, even for a TV show.
I went along with it and added the voice overs, but they were relevant to things that were actually happening, not the scenes you added them to.
True Life is anything BUT and I can’t believe they give out Emmys to people who take pride in ruining lives.
